June 21st was a hot, sunny day in Rome City, but that didn’t stop the fun on Kids’ Day! 70 kids and their families put on some sunscreen and hit the plaza at the Patroness of America Center for games, snacks, and TONS of cool prizes. There were multiple rounds of spoon racing and a potato sack race. Even the adults couldn’t resist the fun and competition and joined in the races.
One of our highlights of the day was the many great volunteers, and all the generous donors and vendors who made this day so special for the kids. We had over 25 volunteers for the center, 11 volunteers running vendor booths, and 2 priests who joined us for the day. All of them enjoyed seeing all the sweet smiles and fun. Volunteers handed out prizes and hid golden eggs. The fire hose was a big hit and kept us cool throughout the day. The kids crowded the library table to pick up some cool resources. The face painter had an eager line all day long. I think some kids ate their weight in Miller’s popcorn. There were too many amazing prizes donated for them to choose from, so they kept coming back for more, and even picked out some to share with siblings and friends.
“Many in our community don’t know about the Our Lady, Patroness of America Center.” says Al Langsenkamp, President. “This event brought so many of our community together to enjoy and celebrate our children, families and all who make Rome City a great place”.
We are so grateful for the way the Rome City community came together to make the first Kids’ Day so incredibly fun for the kids! They are listed below. We can’t wait to continue to partner with the community to make Rome City the best spot to be, and to give families an amazing space to raise happy, holy kids.
